Guild Shows Promise Despite Challenging Finish at ALGS Championship

Guild’s Apex Legends team demonstrated their world-class potential at the Apex Legends Global Series Championship in Sapporo, Japan, despite a final placement that belied their true performance. The team of Jesko, Legacy, and new in-game leader Phony, under the guidance of coach Winnie, showcased their abilities with an impressive run through multiple stages of the prestigious tournament.

The squad's journey through the championship was marked by consistent excellence in the early phases, securing a 10th place finish in the group stages before elevating their performance to claim third place in the winners bracket. Most notably, Guild's ability to secure match victories in all three stages of the competition highlighted their capacity to compete at the highest level.

The electric atmosphere of the Sapporo Dome, packed with 13,300 passionate fans, provided a fitting stage for one of Legacy's standout moments – a spectacular Kraber shot that brought the entire arena to its feet, exemplifying the high-caliber gameplay Guild brought to the tournament.

Turning Tide

A crucial turning point came when Guild had built significant momentum, climbing to second place overall. However, technical difficulties led to an hour-long tournament pause, disrupting the team's rhythm. Following the restart, Guild faced challenges in recapturing their earlier form, particularly in reaching match point – a threshold that nine other teams would eventually cross.

Despite the setback, Guild's final statistics speak to their competitive spirit, accumulating 245 points and 124 kills across 35 matches. While the 12th place finish may not reflect the team's true potential, their performance throughout the tournament demonstrated their ability to compete with the world's elite teams.

Luke Jones, VP of Commercial, Esports & Gaming at Guild said: “The dedication and performance shown by our team deserved more.

"We're grateful for the support from fans and the Apex community. We are a new team that learnt a lot from this tournament and will now spend some time analysing our performances in preparation for the 2025 season. This is just the beginning...

“A big thanks also to our partners Sky Broadband, Hummel, and REGEN Optics for being right behind us throughout this campaign."

Looking ahead, Guild Esports remains focused on the future, with their sights already set on the ALGS's return in March. The team's strong showing in Sapporo, particularly during the early stages, builds on the team’s fifth placed finish at the Split 2 Playoffs in Germany back in September.

The $2 million prize pool event once again proved why Apex Legends features one of the most exciting competitive formats in esports, with Guild Esports contributing to the spectacle through their dynamic gameplay and memorable moments.
